ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Maestas Development Group has confirmed that a Ross Dress for Less will join previously announced tenants in the second phase of the Las Estancias development in the South Valley, which gets underway next week.
Phase I of the 80-acre development included a movie theater, medical clients, a Starbuck’s, Planet Fitness, Whataburger and a McDonald’s, among others. Celina Espinoza, communication and community outreach director for the Maestas Development Group, said in a news release that more than 320,000 square feet of retail space is currently filled and Phase I is now complete.
Espinoza said the second phase will create approximately 155,000 square feet of retail space, which will also include a previously announced Hobby Lobby.
“Already creating more than 300 jobs, Las Estancias is a game changing development in the South Valley,” Espinoza said. “With only 9-square-feet of existing retail per person in the area, compared to a citywide average of 45 square feet, residents near Las Estancias continue to request anchor stores and additional food, retail and entertainment opportunities.”
Steve Maestas, CEO of Maestas development Group along with land owner Mike Mechenbier have been working on the project for several years.
“Las Estancias is growing, creating jobs and bringing needed services to the South Valley,” Maestas said said in the news release.
The Maestas Development Group will have a groundbreaking for Phase II on Tuesday, when they will announce another tenant.
