ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Ronald McDonald House of New Mexico is opening a new location, the first-of-its-kind in the country.
On Monday, developers, Maestas Development Group and Titan Development, broke ground on the hotel for The Highlands Redevelopment Project.
The hotel will include a Ronald McDonald House on one of its floors. It will include 20 guest rooms and common areas for the families of seriously ill or injured children.
“There’s a need to serve more families. Obviously, space is a premium around here, and so we work together to say, ‘Hey, how can we do this together?'” Jessica Wright, Ronald McDonald House of New Mexico Chief Executive Officer, said.
The entire project includes eight phases with more than 40,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, a Central Food Market and 320 multi-family housing units. It’s expected to be completed in about five years.
